We used to have cranberries out of a can at Thanksgiving when I was little. I wasn’t a fan then and decided when I got old enough to make my own Thanksgiving Dinner, I would make my own…these are so tart and yummy and perfect I make them every year. And they are DELISH on leftover sandwiches. So make them for Turkey Day to boil reduce or whenever!! (these can be made night before)
Bring to a boil the following:
1 cup of water
2 cups of sugar (I use 1 1/2 to make is less sweet and more tart)
1 cinnemon stick
5 whole cloves
after brought to a boil reduce heat and simmer for 5 min.
-take out cloves
-add 2 peeled and chopped granny smith apples
-add 5 cups of fresh whole cranberries
-let simmer over med heat until cranberries start to pop
-grate in peel of 1 orange
-when cranberries have all popped remove cinnamon stick
-pour into dish and refrigerate Serve cold
